The show opens retelling the last battle between the forces of Doom and the Voltron Force. During this entire sequence, there are no character shots whatsoever... I think because it happened in the past, and they'd have to design all the characters younger and it's not worth the time and money. We see Lotor's ship shot out of the sky and only one hand sticks out of the wreckage.

Somehow, Lotor finds the strength within him to press a special control button, sealing a dome over Castle Doom and separating it from the planet, sending it off into space.

Move ahead to several years later, when the Voltron Force no longer exists and the unvierse is at peace. The robot Amalgamus (which now oversees the Alliance) meets up with Captain Keith and Princess Allura, who have come to question Lotor. Amalgamus, BTW, isn't terribly humanoid looking. I want to say he reminds me of Robbie the Robot from the '50s or thereabouts, but that's not quite accurate either. He definitely looks like gadgetry and circuitry.

Amalgamus brings Keith and Allura to meet the Minister of Peace... King Zarkon, now sans his regal robes and in armor instead. He claims seeing his son on the verge of death made him change his ways.

Together the group goes to see Lotor. His face is half-normal, the other is a silver plate with molded hair that does its best to resemble his old face. Personally I thought he'd look more like a Frankenstein, there's still a bit of a look to Lotor! At first, he won't listen to his father, but then Zarkon says he's "brought someone prettier." When Lotor sees Allura, he tries to break through the bars and get to her, claiming she'll be his. A security robot is dispatched and chains come from the wall to bind Lotor, and he is physically stopped. Mentally though, he still voices his obsession that Allura belongs to him!

Elsewhere, we see Lance has become one of the top stunt pilots on the entertainment circuit as he dodges and manuevers through a difficult race course. When he decides to go back and try a second round with more stunts, the announcer cautions him against it. But reckless Lance grazes his plane on a stunt obstacle and starts to lose control!

And that's all we know folks...at least for now.
