VOLTRON Lion Force Chronology

What follows is a season-by-season breakdown of the VOLTRON Lion Force episodes. The first season aired for the first time in the United States in 1984-1985, the second season in 1985. The special "Fleet of Doom" ran in 1986, but isn't truly the end of the series (see under "Fleet of Doom" for more information) and to be honest, isn't that great an episode. In the early 1990s, VOLTRON Lion Force aired on the USA Network. In 1997, World Events re-released Season One of VOLTRON to the Cartoon Network, and a mildly CGI- enhanced version of Season Two to broadcast stations as THE NEW ADVENTURES OF VOLTRON. A full CGI-version of the show, VOLTRON: THE THIRD DIMENSION, premiered in Fall of 1998 in the United States. Some episodes of what is considered Season Two of V3D began airing in May of 1999 in the U.S.

[square brackets] within the timeline indicate important trivia about the series, or comments/observations of mine. I am aware of sites that provide an episode listing with titles. However, especially with Season One, I'm not certain which episodes go to which titles. You see, the episodes are listed in production number order, which have absolutely nothing to do with airing order... though in theory all episodes should air in their production number order. Sometimes episodes are completed later than expected, or are lengthened to multi-part episodes when it's realized a single episode will run too long. In VOLTRON's case, because the first season was dubbed over from the Japanese, there is the possibility that the Japanese production numbers were out of order originally, and the VOLTRON writers may have found some portions of multi-part episodes when they didn't expect them. Because in the early years, I saw both the Anga episode and Part 3 of the Omega Comet arc air way earlier than they came later on, I believe that something along those lines may have actually happened.
